THE FASHION BANDIT
– WHERE FASHION MEETS HUMOUR
In the world of The Fashion Bandit – in other words in my world – style and the way one dresses is about personality. It’s about you. It’s about originality and creativity, it’s about the freedom and joy of expressing and showing the world who you are on the inside by wearing and creating outfits and styles born in your own mind on the outside.
The Fashion Bandit – bring on the fun!
Freedom to express – and a fresh take on fashion photography
In 2016 I introduced the concept of The Fashion Bandit. After a lifetime of annoyance and puzzlement over why it is so frowned upon to dress differently from the norm, why on earth there is, in the world of fashion, something like a fashion police dictating what’s wearable and what’s not, and getting more and more bored by conventional fashion photography so devoid of life and humour, I was spurred into action.
My idea was to produce fashion imagery – photos and videos – loaded with fun, wit and humour, and of a high professional standard. In publishing these I wanted to inspire all those people out there whom I know want to dress according to their own ideas, but feel they’re not “allowed to” by the fashion police – or simply by the general public and common ideas of what is “right” and “wrong”.
So I brought in likeminded professional photographers and we set to work. With many laughs and great fun hundreds and hundreds of photos have been created over the years, published mostly on Instagram for the public to enjoy, smile and laugh over – and to draw inspiration and courage from when dressing their own way. You will find a selection in the Gallery (under construction).
“My mission as The Fashion Bandit? With a whirlwind of energy, with passion and spark and fun and humour I want to create images of fashion, both still and moving, which sweep the perfectly beautified, posed and unsmiling style of fashion photography we’re so used to, off its feet. Through my unselfconcious play with clothes I want to inspire people to fashion their own style and style their own fashion, regardless of Fashion Police or the opinions of the general public, and for people to relax and have fun with it! Quite simply: I want to put fashion in high spirits!”
